Beer Review: Urban Roots Frost Bike Cold IPA
Urban Roots Frost Bike is a technical showcase that evolves their flagship West Coast IPA. By changing the yeast and fermentation temperature, the brewery creates a Cold IPA that transforms a familiar hop profile into something entirely “crushable”.
Appearance
Frost Bike pours a clear, pale gold, with a thin white head.
Aroma
Vibrant layers of Mosaic and Simcoe hops are present. Bright citrus zest and dank pine dominate the nose, complemented by subtle floral undertones.
Flavor & Mouthfeel
This Cold IPA is incredibly crisp and lean. Initial flavors of grapefruit and blueberry are direct, leading into a clean, resinous snap without any malt sweetness.
The Verdict
The lager yeast used at low temperatures strips away ale yeast esters, resulting in a beer that is highly drinkable and “West Coast crispy” with a pure hop expression.
