Whether you are a die-hard hophead or a casual lager lover, this year’s lineup is a massive celebration of the “30 Years of IPA” and the innovative spirit that defines our local brewing scene.

Can’t-Miss Events & Highlights
The week is packed with hundreds of events across five regions (SF, East Bay, North Bay, Peninsula, and South Bay). Here are a few curated picks:
Hop on MUNI IPA Pub Crawl (Feb 20): Kick off the week at Standard Deviant in the Mission. Grab a “Hop on Muni” IPA and a crawl card to hit 15+ bars across the city via public transit.
The “Retro” IPA Series: This year features a fascinating “Timeline of the IPA” series. Look for events featuring IPA 2000 (brewed to taste like the turn of the millennium) and IPA 2030 (a futuristic projection of where the style is headed).
Battle of the Guilds (Feb 22): Head to Pond Farm Brewing in San Rafael to see the Bay Area go head-to-head against Sacramento, Orange County, and San Diego for regional bragging rights.
Beer vs. Wine Dinner (Feb 28): A five-course showdown at Old Skool Cafe. You vote on whether the beer or wine pairing takes the crown, with proceeds supporting at-risk youth.
NightLife at Cal Academy: Science and suds collide! Explore the museum with a rare “Aliciella Bitter” in hand, brewed with plants from the Academy’s own living roof.
Strategies for Success
It’s a Marathon, Not a Sprint: With 10 days of heavy pours, pace yourself. Use the MUNI and BART—don’t even think about driving.
Download the Schedule: The official SF Beer Week website has a live map and filter tool. Use it to find “Tap Takeovers” or “Meet the Brewer” nights in your specific neighborhood.
Look for the Collabs: The Bay Area Brewers Guild releases official collaboration beers every year. These are often one-offs you’ll never see again—seek them out early in the week before the kegs kick.
Note: Many events are free to attend (pay-as-you-go), but popular workshops and beer dinners require advanced reservations.
